Self-nature that is no nature.
Hakuin Ekaku

An open space to move in, with the whole body, the whole mind.
Gary Snyder

The land and its processes are the foundation of my art practice. It is, for me, not scenic or pastoral, but a dynamic network of memory, myth, magic, and language—living speech—a syntax of water, stone, seed, sprout, decay, migration…

This terrain is not a reflection of mind, but the ground for a reciprocal—sometimes ritual—act of perpetual creation. I am exploring a visual language that is born from an awareness that perception is a natural system; one in which the compost of observed, dreamed, and remembered forms and experiences manifest in images of a world at once real and imagined.

An ecology of mind. Imagination as ecosystem.
